Nice to see a BZ1.org visitor who thinks so. All references to this mod had been utterly purged last time I took a look around.

You installed Battlezone II under C:\Program Files\ on windows Vista/7?

Option A: Move BZ2 out of Program Files, or:

Option B: Run Battlezone II as Administrator, or:

Option C: Open BZC_bzone.cfg, and at bottom, where it has:

   SetPilotsDirectory("@rootdir\BZCpilots");
   SetSavesDirectory("@rootdir\BZCsaved");
   //SetPilotsDirectory("@mydocsdir\BZCpilots");
   //SetSavesDirectory("@mydocsdir\BZCsaved");

Make it:

   //SetPilotsDirectory("@rootdir\BZCpilots");
   //SetSavesDirectory("@rootdir\BZCsaved");
   SetPilotsDirectory("@mydocsdir\BZCpilots");
   SetSavesDirectory("@mydocsdir\BZCsaved");

This will tell the mod to store your profile/saved games under My Documents\My Games\Battlezone II - BZC\ instead of C:\Program Files\Battlezone II\

Basically, Windows Vista/7 doesn't let any programs modify (write to) anything under \Program Files or \Windows folders, unless the program is "Run as Administrator". So, yours wasn't letting Battlezone II create the profile inside \Battlezone II\BZCPilots\ folder.

I never install games under Program Files anymore. :)

Thanks for bringing up this issue though, I've switched the default settings to point to store them in the My Documents folder.

Yea, another BZ1 like game risks the stranglehold of control.

I realise, though technically BZE is a mod too. I must ask, have you actually played it or are you just taking the word of those around you? I encourage you to form your own opinion. That said, it seemed a pretty poor effort to me.

Added a link to TNT's GameRanger Mod Selector so people can play this mod online using game ranger :)

Also added a link to the Mantis bug tracker, so you can report bugs and keep track of whats being done/fixed.

Once I find out that bug again, I'll have a look in looking to see if its on the tracker, but I remember during that little preview it released before the PB. I don't remember it quite well, been a while since I last started it up.

Anyway, when I'm done with a few anime-related releases, I'll have a peak into this and see how it plays out. One thing I do remember was the wonky menu system being partially broke in the pre-release.. so maybe this will end up better.

[edit]

Until the email for the mantis is sent to me, I'll edit this post here for now. I've got two things for ya so far, maybe 3.

First one is minor, during the install, it says to point to a PB 5.1 directory, still need to get that fixed. =P

Second, Satellite view is royally screwed. You get into it, you're never going to get out of it until you quit your game. I've tried everything imaginable to get out of it and I simply can't. Logout does nothing but put the camera beside your tank or vehicle, can't move or anything.

I thought I had a third, but now I can't even remember. I'll test some more as I get some time and one of my friends gets his butt online so I can test a bit of the MP. I've only gone through a couple of the SP missions, but so far I haven't had any problems with the few I went through. Can't wait to see the inclusion of the CRA though.

One minor note, as a suggestion, I recommend you maybe change "American" for the race selection to NSDF, Soviet to CCA. Its mainly to keep to the original BZ if that's what your aim is.

Just finished the campaign.

All I can say is wow, this mod is far better than I had anticipated, very nicely touched up and has a real genuine bz1 feel to it.

It did crash a couple times, especially on the second mars mission, unfortunately I can't provide the crash log, it wouldn't let me grab it. Is there a temporary place it stores crash logs?

when I drove up to the short pyramid shape building that's a prison in one of the fury missions, it came up with a bunch of lines in the command line saying it was missing an object/vehicle of some sort.

I'm very pleased with the way BZC has turned out thus far, thank you to everyone who worked on it.  :D
