Is this the end of bz2md?
« on: November 15, 2012, 12:10:23 AM »
I joined this site some time wayyy back in '09, and I have witnessed its' steady decline.
Is this the end of this site? How large is the BZ2 community (Modders and players)?
This game is too epic to just be thrown out. How can one go about advertising this game?
It seems too many people are more interested in Gaylo 4 and the like.

I admit, I've also stopped playing as much as I used to. I also stopped working
on my mini-mod I was working on. So, who's still alive here?

I've been watching this site over the past few months. I can't do anything to contribute to the game largely because I'm that lazy. And that I'm terrible at strategy games, which BZ2 is built on.

Mod makers are really busy.  I have a lot of things on this site I want to fix but after doing web stuff at work all day I get a bit sick of it to do it at home.  Without big modding going on, this site is a bit slow.

You guys. lol

But yeah. Anyone else think the gamespy thing is going to kill a lot of the BZII fanbase?
I used to get some friends to play with me, but only because it was easy to set up.
Not saying the new program isn't easy, but it's just more shit to install and whatnot.

Recent 1.3 test builds work with Openspy, so we have a viable passive solution.

Sounds pretty good.
Last night I managed to work GameRanger and played a game with my brother.

I do come by from time to time (just to see that the domain is still resolved :) and catch up on what is going on.
The BZ2CP was what made me start coding. I am so glad that I did and what I learned.
So keeping the server and domain available is the minimum I can do.

However, to answer the top questions: is this the end of bz2md.com?
No. As long as there is one visitor per month, bz2md.com will be up in some form.

It would be up in a nicer form, but I've been dealing with a combination of being tired of web dev every day because I do it at work, and being sick :(
