Well, I'm an old-school XBox player... so...

Left thumbstick is for moving your pilot or tank. Right one is for rotating left or right or looking up or down.

The 360 still has a D-Pad, so why not use the D-Pad to select them? Left and right for units. Up and down for the buildings (Recy, factory, armo etc).

INSTRUCTIONS FOR X360 BZ2

>>Triggers
Right - Fire/charge Chargegun
Left - Switch Weapon
RB - Weapon Multi-Select
LB - Use Specials

(Trigger combinations)
RB + LB - Bailout
R + L - Lights
RB + L - View INF for item thingy
LB + R - Morph Tank

(Pilot)
LB + R - Special (Jetpack, satchel, etc)

>>D-Pad
Left & Right - select Units
Up & Down - select Buildings

(When a unit/squad is selected) Up & Down - Select command.

>> Thumbsticks
Right thumbstick - Camera rotation
Left thumbstick - Movement & strafing

>> Y, A, X, B Buttons
A - Select whatever you've selected/Jump when not selecting anything.
X - Get out of your tank/Use console
Y - Cycle Radar mode
B - Target

>> Start & Back Buttons
Start - Game options menu
Back - Objectives/Menu cancel

/--SATELLITE VIEW CONTROLS

>> Y, A, X, B Buttons
A - Select whatever cursor is on
B - Create Nav beacon (Sorry Nav beacons are named with numbers because typing will be slow on X360)
X - Get out of Relay
Y - Delete selected beacon

>> Thumbsticks
Right - Move cursor
Left - Rotate camera

>> Triggers
R - Zoom IN
L - Zoom OUT
R + L - Zoom RESET

Thumbsticks are used for ALL menus including map selection, unit modification at the factory console, blah blah blah blah etc etc etc. A is select.

That pretty much covers everything I use in BZ2. Except Multi-UNIT select. This may require changing BZ2 itself. Just the controls.

I would rather have this sort of setup:

[LT] = special
[RT] = fire
[LB] = target
[RB] = multiselect
Select = Objectives
Start = Esc Menu
(LftJoy) movement
(LftJoyPress) = Cycle Radar
Y = cycle weapons
X = Select
B = HopOut
A= Jump
[DirectionalPad] = Baseslot/CommandSelect (1-8 only, so a recy var would need to be made to work correctly) / Perhaps F1-F8 when no unit/structure selected
(rghtJoy) = mousecontrols basically
(rightJoypress) = lights

You have to understand selections would be sort of faked. I will look into hooking into the DX stream or whatever to render something custom on the screen. If I can render something, like simply, a little box that says [1] and another that says [F1] or alike, and update them, it would work very well. You would press the keys we would designate for selection and those boxes would change to indicate a different selection. Then you would hit the button for execute, which would press the indicated button as far as the game was concerned.

K, I'm gonna write up a tutorial over the weekend, any changes controller like you can do on the PC cause you can use wired controllers on some computers :/ mine can't. Once the F# this is working on the computer I can move the game to the X-Box and try it out on the X-Box :)

What about one of those controllers with the keyboard in the middle?

That is just an addon to any controller, it's not a full keyboard but it can be very useful for multiplayer.

I'm actually really impressed. Expect microsoft and activision and other miscelanneous copyright holders to grab you by the balls if you get it working online. Personal use is fine, but xbox live and its marketplace makes people money. And making money often means something legality based.

Proving it can be done however is what interests me. How exactly did you do it?

Didn't even get it working online lol.

I need this thread deleted NOW cause Microsoft sent me mail :(

Now that the image FINALLY loaded:

1. Hope you have $1000
2. You have finally set off the warning lights for ALL members here. YES PEOPLES, THEY ARE WATCHING.

3. Whoever was the idiot who even mentioned the possibility of official release or use of Xbox Live is probably WHY they took notice.

No need to worry about here, they watch www.ibotmodz.net because it's a massive modding site but they would have no reason to watch here but still I need this thread removed at some point. I'm scared :(

Microsoft can contact one of us here, because I know for a FACT Microsoft wastes a load of money on letterhead (and printers, and both don't streak and stain and frankly the letterhead is smear PROOF), and that doesn't have it. Funny though Dat.

I would however not mind removing this and you making a new guide.

The terms of use of BZ2 allow you to install it on your computer. As such that part is bull shit as an XBOX360 is a computer.
If they seriously did send it, they are wrong. You have every right to to do something to something you own with something you own. What you do not have the right to do is send the game to others after the modification as that is equal to illegally copying games.

People put MAME on an XBOX all the time, that doesn't get them letters from MS. You own a license to install Battlezone II and you can do it on what you want.

If Fishy got an email, it would be GONE already, he didn't. Nice try. If you want to start a new topic that is clean from shame let me know, but this is laughable. This is what a REAL letter looks like:

You didn't even use the correct font.

They don't bother with users. They go for the admins directly.

I wanted to say something about this not being "aloud," but wasn't sure if I really wanted to.
