Serious Lag
« on: November 16, 2008, 09:06:48 AM »
Whatever I do to the game, it makes no difference. Stock BZ2 and almost all other mods I have seen run very smoothly on the highest graphics settings, but with QF, it's a different story. I can lower all the graphics settings to their minimum if I want, the lag is still the most serious I have ever seen for this game. And besides, the settings don't seem to affect the QF vehicles and buildings anyway. They all look the same in any detail level.

Any idea of something else I can do to lower my lag?

and while I'm at it, does anybody have any pointers for Mission 13?

The issue of detail level is that BBB is quite adamant about not including LODs for his units.  I bet they'd be able to drop our lag by a lot if they were there.

Haven't actually played the mod yet, so I can't help you on Mission 13.  Sorry.

VSMIT.

IQ's have really dropped around here just recently, must be something in the water.

Shame, but thanks anyways.

And something else... I don't see the bonus missions in the IA list, so how do I get to them?

I never get any lag at all, but that is probably because of my top of the range computer.

I can never catch the runners, and I know playISDF/Scion will get me past it, as will bzwinner, but I want to complete the mission - I'm right at the beginning, I'll miss a load of the story out.

With m13, it is best to learn which runners are coming from where each time.

Always coming from the Hadean base so far. One locust, mid-right, one xares, mid-left. That's as far as I get - I can't catch both.

Always drive a scout and use the portals. There is a way to get them all.

They spawn at the hadean base and will patrol randomly all over the area looking for the QF base. They will run for their base if they come withing 400 metres of any QF unit or building.

Who likes a cakewalk? If it isn't going to be a challenge then really, what is the point?

As I said earlier, being British, all the games are either early morning or late at night, when I'm less likely to be online.
