QF Mod released
« on: August 06, 2008, 03:34:24 AM »
Yes.. you read correctly.

After a year of work I have finally completed this project.

I had planned to release it next week, but decided that it would be better to get it done sooner.

Get it here: http://www.filefront.com/13939899/Install_QF.exe

Get 1.1 patch here: http://www.filefront.com/13939957/QF_Patch_v11.exe

You need the 1.3 pb4a patch to play it.

Enjoy.

PS: Mod may not work with new patches like TA5. It has not yet been tested.

True - it is a big file.

Ok - the mod is about a group of criminals from earth who became fanatically obsessed with bio-metal.
Over the last few years they have set up an intersystem piracy network against the EDF and Scions.

Then the hadean war started and all hell broke loose.

The QF militia was formed and the battle has raged ever since. A tiny faction of no more than 2000 against every
other army.

They are a few months old but very accurate.

It has lots of missions (more than 10)

It is basically completely SP but I did add a bit of IA and MP support.

The SP campaign makes up for it though... big time!!

Fantastic, I can't wait to play it...

One BIG problem and BUG I found.

Did you say it worked only for BattleZone 2 PB4?........

Well, I cannot play it. PB4 will not work on my system.

I'll have to see if I can get it working with PB3. If I can't..... Well...... I cannot play it....

Thanks anyway.

Shane it's for the new PB4a patch which has only just been released so you might not have tried it .

You will definitely need pb4a... nearly every single thing in the mod relies on it.

And why can't you get pb4 working?

Well, I tried it on PB4a. On the first mission, I got a crash right when the enemy tanks encountered my turrets. So I game.cheat.bzwinner'ed it. On the second mission, I get an AV right when my units enter the enemy base (after I blow their fac). I'm not sure if this AV is specific to my setup or not.

Also, it seems everything is very, very dark. When you were creating the maps, you didnt have your gamma turned up did you? I had to turn my gamma up just to see anything.

Those missions were designed like that.

I rigorously tested those missions, never had any AVs.

I'll try them again.

that's the thing about testing, you really need to have several other people to help you test, Fleshstorm would have had more bugs than the Amazon if it hadn't been for the beta team.

it doesn't matter how much you test, other people will always find ways to break your mod.

Probably. But Ill leave the beta testing till my next mod.

This is only my first one. And I really wanted to do it alone.

I just tested both missions with a fresh install of bz2 + pb4a patch.

No glitches at all.
