Mod Backstory
« on: September 13, 2007, 08:12:23 PM »
The Scion War has ended with the destruction of the Scion Main Computer.  Braddock sees this as the ultimate victory and does not continue with his plan of complete annihilation by nuclear bombardment.  Because of the loss of the computer, the Scions have no way to continue communications with their remote outposts, and they dissolve into nothingness, as their outposts are overtaken by the ever approaching Hadean Crown Fleet.

In the interim, Braddock dies, assassinated by an unknown soldier, who takes his own life after killing Braddock.  When Braddock's atrocities come to light, he is branded, not as the one who saved Earth from an alien invasion, but as the man who mutated humans and created a race of enemies, destroyed when his lusts for power extended beyond what is normal for humans.  Biometal is sanctioned, but not to the extent that FE gave, but research is slowed by the fact that Humans can no longer come into direct contact with the material, only manipulating it through machines.  This, however, does not change the military abilities of the International Space Defense Force, now called the Earth Defense Force, but instead enhances it.

Although there is still hatred between the Scions and the Humans, the Scions managed to get one burst communication back to Earth: "Prepare to defend yourselves."  After that, nobody knows what happened to the Scions, they became a race lost in time...

The Hadean War begins raging just outside the Sol System, the EDF barely keeping up with the Hadean onslaught.  The Hadeans have taken all of the old Scion bases, so they have a seemingly infinite supply of biometal.  Soon enough, the war enters the system proper, bringing the Cerberi, who move to defend the system.  With the combined might of the EDF and Cerberi, the Hadean Fleet is defeated.

This is not the end.  A small Hadean task force comandeered an EDF cruiser and piloted it down to Earth.  Because it was an EDF vessel, it was not checked by EDF security, and was allowed down to the planet.  By the time the EDF realized that the Hadeans had slipped past their defenses, most of their fleet was still out near Core.  The Hadeans recovered and activated their most powerful weapon, Nexus, and began terrorizing Earth.  Soon, Nexus's AI realized that it didn't need the Hadeans anymore, and absorbed them into itself.  It used their bodies as power cells (ala The Matrix) and became more powerful.

The EDF Fleet soon arrived, but by that time, it was too late.  Nexus became so powerful that it easily destroyed the EDF fleet and used the scrap to build its own fleet.

An old man entered the EDF Headquarters, identifying himself as General Collins (or insert different name from BZI here).  Because the Nexus was ravaging Earth, he divulged confidential information that not even the AAN was privy to.

When the former Soviet Army's CCA division activated the ancient Cthonian relics and awakened the Furies, they created a race that was ready to destroy all of mankind.  When the NDSF and CCA joined forces, they began work on an evacuation project, Project Ark (insert some other name here, probably).  The ship was designed and built in a hidden base on the moon.  It was completed before the end of the Fury war, and was wiped from joint NSDF and CCA intelligence at the end of the war.  Between the wars, Ark was kept at a state of readiness and was outfitted with newer technolgy as it was developed.  However, because of the shortage of Biometal on the moon (since the NDSF and CCA grabbed all of the loose stuff during the space race), the "Biometal Breeder" was developed, which would work off of one piece of scrap and "breed" it, making more.

Because of the Nexus threat, (name) was told by his superiors to relay this information to the EDF.  (name) informed the EDF of where the DEMIGOD was hidden, and preparations began for the evacuation of Earth... (End part 1)

A little bit of backstory to this mod.  I hacked this out in about an hour and a half, so it's rough and needs names to finalize it.

Feel free to rip this apart, any criticisms are welcome.  There will be a part 2 sometime in the future, when I get around to writing it.

I'll edit this post with my idea later...

EDIT (A newer version):
In the years previous to twenty 0 one, human space travel was secretive with the exception of the activities of NASA. Reports are sketchy, but with the support of recently declassified materials, it can be discerned that another space agency, the NSDF, was locked in an interplanetary battle against Russian forces during the cold war. During the course of these battles, an ancient alien civilization was discovered, and an ancient weapon resurrected. It was only by banding together that humanity was able to defeat this new foe, still entirely in secret. This is still disputed, but the existence of alien relics seems to support the story.

The earliest of confirmable records describes a later secret organization known as the ISDF was involved in an interplanetary conflict spanning not only the planets of our solar system, but those in another system. The war was against an invading alien force, known as the Scion Collective.

The hero of this conflict is lost in the red tape, but the General, Armand Braddock, is infamous. His actions had a direct result on the not only the ISDF, but human society. As word of this close call spread, so did that of the new technologies made possible by biometal. As biometal became wide spread, and civil space projects more prevalent, the truth began to come out. The Scions the only intelligent alien species ever encountered by humanity, were a construct of Braddock's twisted research; a mere continuation of the earlier fury project that resurrected the terrible war machines of a lost civilization.

The realization of Braddock’s acts was more profound than anyone could have ever realized. Not only was the ISDF was disbanded and replaced with a civil police force, simply know as the ECPF, but the social view became disenfranchised with intelligent extraterrestrial life. Even the relics of an ancient alien civilization in time became just those of human ancestors. Feeling alone in the universe, instead of banding together to preserve their precious existence, the whole of humanity began to break down. The ECPF grew to counteract the decline in civil obedience; a buildup that would buy the Earth precious seconds in the near future.

In recent events, contact was lost with an archeological expedition on Eris. The police force sent to investigate never returned, only one message made it back to the ECPF headquarters. There were unknown ships, large ones, and they were strong. A long forgotten enemy had appeared on the solar horizon; humanity met this news with mixed reactions.

The Hadean forces, whose ancient ancestors were though to be those of humanity, cut a bloody swath from Pluto to Ceres. It was only by chance, that a Hadean commander, or equivalent there of, had the unfortunate task as destroying human outposts in the outer system; his target, a small collection of bases on The Dark Planet.

The Dark Planet, a mystery to even the brightest of scientists, reacted to the barrage with a massive blue flash. A huge black force rose from the surface to attack the invading Hadean forces from the rear. The ECPF had their opening, and they struck. The Hadeans were pinned, locked in a fight on two fonts, and cut off from resupply. The enemy, however, was still to strong, and began to turn the tide of battle in their favor. The Cerberi forces, as identified by the ancient Cerberus AI on the Dark Planet, were begging to loose. In desperation, the Cerberi absorbed Hadean soldiers and pilots, gaining their knowledge, cunning, and irregular behavior. They became not only viscous unpredictable frenzied beasts, but greedy, hungry monsters. The Cerberi turned the tide of war easily, acting with no mercy. Hungry, greedy, full of pride, the new Cerberi moved toward Earth with plans to continue the Hadean conquest.

What happened in the ISDF side of BZII happened after the Scion side.  It happens regardless of what choice you make.

Ummmmm, nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

SCION:
Cooke joins the scions and helps them to recover all the alcemator crystals so they can terraform the Dark Planet.

ISDF:
Cooke destroys the scion core computer and all of Scion kind dies.  For some reason, they die without a core planet, which is why I came up with the 'Scion Dyalisis'.  I won't go into that now.

But without the Alchemator crystals, the computer wouldn't have been accessible anyway.  The Dark Planet had to be activated before the ISDF could go in to destroy the computer.

Ahhh, I understand your confusion.  The planet Core is not the same as the New Core that the dark planet becomes.

There is a Core in the Mire System, that is the current scion homewoeld and the one destroyed by the ISDF story line.

In the Scion story line the Dark Planet is terraformed into ANOTHER Core planet, reffered to as Dark Core OR New Core.

In the FE story line, when Dark Core is destoryed (now known as Destroyed Core) the Scions move back to the Mire system, and to their old core planet.  They are not in a good position because the Old Core (original Core) was failing in the first place and they do not have the Scion Super Computer anymore either, it is drifting in space.

The loss of the computer lead some to think it was the Cerberi Computer, ehich is one of the possibilities.  But as with any mod with many people working on it, there are different views.  One in particular, Slaor's, says that the Cerburus compputer is not the scion computer, but rather was already in place on the dark planet before any of this ever happened.

Those are the 2 mos common points of confusion.

i like the story -- but i always prefered the line that FE followed. If what you are proposing is another (say parellel FE mod), then you will have a tough time making it.

it is kind of a stupid idea that a huge ship was hidden on the moon.. people are not stupid enough to leave something that could easily wipe out humanity just lying hidden.. I would say that the cerberi attacked the nexus;l and instead of destroying humanity, it began attacking the cerberi.. when the humans decided not to help the cerberi against it, they go mad and attack everything. They are fought off earth into a huge ship which they use to tow the nexus into space and then they disappear for 10 years. The EDF spend this time amassing a huge army of over 5 million highly trained personnel which they deploy over the solar system and are constantly ready for a cerberi attack. But then nothing happens... 5 years later a huge fleet of ships is discovered heading towards sol.. they are attacked and mutilated by a huge EDF fleet before it is realised that they were actually the phaer-rhan!! what is left of the phaer-rhan fleet turns tail and runs... straight into a huge fleet of cerberi ships who have built thousands of nexuses!!!!!! The phaer-rhan are destroyed in a matter of seconds and then a huge battle starts. Thousands of EDF star-destroyers and as many cerberi ships start firing an insane amount of weapons at each other... ten minutes later both fleets were utterly mutilated with only a few EDF capitol ships remaining.
Another fleet of cerberi is detected the same size as the first. All the EDF ships run at top speed towards earth just as the last of the civilian evacuation ships is leaving orbit.. and then all the remaining humans make a run for the stars. Every last human ship blind-jumps away just after they see the entire earth destroyed!!!!!!!

then a saga starts of them trying to find a new planet to begin again on.... or am i going psycho (battlestar galactica style) <-- i probably am

My story line make the hidden ship make mutch more sence.

I have it as an early NSDF project, that changed to an ISDF (bz1 isdf meaning NSDF and CCA alience) ship for anti fury defence, that was eventualy put on the back burner, and became the test bed for technologies and other wacky ideas by scientists.  It is basicly, a moon base with an engine that was never used.

Now also, in my story line, the EDF is still formed (in name only) as a police force, as biometal becomes widely used and civil space travel becomes not only feasable, but common every day travel.

Also, the Nexus is not related to the Cerberi from what I can tell. It is an ancient Hadean Weapon that in my story line, is comendeared by the malfunctionaing cerberi.

But how do the Cerberi get damaged in your storyline?  Mine hasn't gotten to that point yet.  My storyline contains a Cerberus Computer that was not malfunctioning, with Nexus simply absorbing it into itself (wait for the story to find out how).

I added a version of my story.  It has the base, and details can be added, the words can be made more educated (I'm literaly writing this in bed ATM so I can't do that now) and the years updated.

but if general collins is in...hmm latest tech.....i know! have grizzly 1 return and have a back story that after the war he asked to be put into suspended animation so hat if the earth ever needs anoyther mircale we can resurect him, if could be like the opening pilots walking into a huge cavern and have one of the origional grizzlys (very VERY heavily modified of course eg different looks, armor and cannon pods) and have grizzly 1's pilot in a pod in the next room (btw the tank is sournded by a lazer field that can only be deavicted by a code that the pilot put in himself so no one can tamper with it) then a message comes in from loud speakers saying that we need grizzly 1 operactional now and debriefed asap

first mission, getting used to the upgraded grizzly, we going have to pull some strings here cause i was planing on giving this tank of ours, 2 cannons, 1 rocked 1 morter and a shield (as i said a modified tank) we got training drones, turrets etc

mission 2 returning to the main base to be debrieded by general collins, while on return intercepted by 2 (Unknown) enermy craft and as our skills in bz1 has gorn rusty but out bz2 skills are not, with our new tank we will have no troubles dispacting these enemys, or will we :D he he he u never know

after that i have no idea, probably get different weapon upgrades for the armory, factory and rec as such, or not not my place to guess, btw anyone who has played halo 1 with get hits of where i got the syspended animation from lol, anyone who has different ideos tel lme, i just thrugh those thoughts on a whim lol

btw bring cooke back make him a wing man for grizzly 1 though i dont know how that will work for anyone who payed close attenchion to fe will know that cooke is now a scion then then agian it happens in bz2 lol but was i the only one to figure out that shabieve and cooke are the guys aunts? (i forget the guys name)

Sorry, but the backstory for this mod is pretty much finished.  You have some good ideas, but they wouldn't be able to fit really well into our story.

Maybe you should take that story and try making your own mod.  Then you could do anything you wanted with it.
